The trail to get here was horrendous… and dangerous… be sure to wear proper shoes for hiking that can grip steep and slick pathways…. HIGHLY recommend water shoes or something for the beach itself since it’s nothing but stones and pebbles, very painful to walk on, but man the view was worth it, and the water was warmer and fun to swim in for a bit. My 5 year old made the trek with us but he’s a good climber, had i known about the hike being so dangerous i wouldn’t have wanted him to come. The views are worth it, and the cool water is worth it. It would be a huge hassle to bring coolers or anything other than a towel to this beach, so I’d recommend only a short visit and not an all day stay.
This is a must. If you are doing the Hana road you must stop here. The path to reach the beach is slightly exposed but worth it.
Once there you reach a place that is simply astonishing, vibrant of life. It looks like a place never touched by human being and time. Just visit it
Gorgeous place ❤️ I loved it so much!!! I recommend that you wear water shoes because there are many stones and you have to do a mini hike to get there which is a bit complicated. Also I recommend that you bring googles as there are some fish that would probably be great to see underwater. the waves are not very strong because the big rocks do not allow their passage. Have fun if you go and please take your trash with you 🙏🏽
You have to be a little adventurous and if you are, it is worth the stop 100 times out of 100 times. Only 1/4 mile hike, which is not difficult, if you can climb stairs for a few minutes you got this hike. I recommend wearing sneakers/shoes. The crowd on the beach will be on the younger side, I don't recommend bringing little ones, or elderly who have difficulty with a few flights of stairs. The red sand is more like small red gravel. Not really a sun bathing spot, but good for a backpack/picnic lunch. Street parking only. Walk to the dead end and you will find the trail entrance, just before the driveway gate.
Very extreme hike to this beach! But so worth it! I've never seen anything like it before and there was a seal resting on the beach.
Nice little hike to a beautiful protected beach area. The trail is not for those that are not sure footed. I loved floating in the water here and my husband who isn't a strong swimmer felt more comfortable here.
Beautiful views along the coastal footpath that leads to the beach.
Getting here was a hassle, but it was SO worth it! I suggest parking at the beach park or in the grass parking up the hill, but do not park in front of the school or on the street. There's no parking signs and you'll get ticketed. I added a photo of the entrance and I suggest wearing shoes and changing or taking them off once at the beach the hike there is a bit rough on sandals. The beach itself is a small bay and protected by rocks and is swimmable! RECOMMEND if you're in Hana and have a bit of time to spare!
